Dialogues is a cross cultural collaboration exploring the idioms and nuances of classical Japanese Koto, non-linear choreography and live electro-acoustic soundscapes.

The show is created by establishing a dynamic dialogue, regulated by a series of conventionally chosen codes, between four separate identities engaged in three different mediums.
The first element is represented by a musician playing a traditional Japanese instrument (Koto), the second by a composer composing for this instrument and live processing its sounds electronically and thirdly by a choreographer using the dynamic forms of the movement of the body in space and time.

The creation, experimentation and analyses of these codes are at the core of this piece; equally important is the commitment to go beyond the simple writing of a set of conventions by maintaining alive a sense of the poetic in the overall structure and in what each artist is committed to express.

The work is envisioned as a non-linear process in which the collaborative feedback from each identity is part of a controlled chain of effects affecting the appearance and outcome of what happens in the space and making it impossible to predict the final outcome.
The strictness of the rules regulating the communicative process are alternatively tied or loosened up to obscure the chances of predictability, using this fluid processes to create a recognisable new language.
